A guide to average costs of surgery at Laser Spine Institute
The decision to undergo spine surgery is an important one and there are a wide range of factors to consider. In addition to finding the right surgeon, center and procedure for their needs, many patients have questions and concerns about the cost of undergoing surgery. Since people have different spine conditions that require different procedures and have different insurance coverage, these costs vary and must be handled on a personalized basis.
To help you make an informed and confident decision about your care, Laser Spine Institute wants to be as transparent as possible about the average cost of minimally invasive spine surgery that patients can expect. Factors that determine the cost of surgery at Laser Spine Institute
The average cost of surgery at Laser Spine Institute is influenced by the following:
- The procedure or procedures performed. One of the benefits of our outpatient procedures is that they reduce hospital-associated costs^ and provide a streamlined experience for our patients. However, different procedures will be billed to your insurance depending on the complexity involved and the specific condition being treated.
- Your individual insurance coverage. Before undergoing a procedure, we will work to calculate an amount that is due at the time of surgery. Average upfront costs may range from $1,000 to $15,000, but they can be more or less depending on your specific coverage.
- Our contract with insurance providers. Laser Spine Institute works with most major insurance providers, but we are not in network at a contracted rate with all of them. We are always trying to negotiate the best possible reimbursements for our procedures to reduce our patients’ out-of-pocket costs.
- The amount paid by the provider after the claim is submitted. After surgery is performed and all services have been rendered, we submit a claim to the insurance company. If an insurance company determines that a patient’s responsibility is greater than the amount paid prior to surgery, Laser Spine Institute will be directed to issue a statement to the patient for the difference.
