Kristin Grau, M.D.

Profile Overview

By the time she was 6 years old, Dr. Kristin Grau had her future figured out. Marriage? Check. Children? Check. A career in medicine? Double check. Growing up the youngest of five, she found her voice by speaking up. Decades later, her outspoken nature would become her strongest attribute, especially on the topic of patient safety.

Dr. Grau’s personalized approach to patient care is all in a day’s work. The chance to interact with those she’s about to treat is her favorite part of being an anesthesiologist. With one part compassion, one part conversation and another part care, Dr. Grau makes her patients feel at ease if they are anxious. Her years of training have revealed something they don’t teach in school — what patients want most is to be cared for by someone they can relate to. It’s why she spends her time getting to know all of them, hearing their stories and establishing common ground.

Strong family ties may have been the subtle, gravitational pull that led Dr. Grau to her current role at Laser Spine Institute. But the family atmosphere made her feel right at home. Having a large extended family and being a mom of two small children, Dr. Grau can definitely relate.
