Osteophyte

Osteophyte is the medical term for the condition commonly referred to as a "bone spur." An osteophyte is extra bone growth that your body initiates in response to joint problems such as arthritis, disc degeneration, aging, poor posture, or other causes. Bone spurs on their own do not cause problems, but they can impinge on nerves or other bones and cause intense pain and debilitation.
