The name Dr. James St. Louis has become synonymous with spine surgery innovation. A Native of Niagara, Wisconsin, Dr. St. Louis completed his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse, where he also played football and competed in track and field events. An astute student and a talented athlete, Dr. St. Louis graduated with the distinction of Sigma Zeta honors. Subsequently, Dr. St. Louis completed his Master of Science degree at said institution. While attending medical school at the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, MO., Dr. St. Louis devoted his service to the Medical Service Corp of the United States Army and later completed his internship and post-graduate training at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas and Eisenhower Medical Center in Fort Gordon, Georgia, respectively. After completing medical school, Dr. St. Louis fulfilled his first orthopedic residency requirement at the U.S. Army in Fort Lewis, WA from 1988 to 1992, followed by a second from 1994 to 1995 at Kennedy Medical Center in Cherry Hill, NJ.
Dr. St. Louis then launched what has become a distinguished career as an Orthopedic Surgeon. Dr. St. Louis has been able to garner extensive experience throughout this prolific career. Prior to his venture into private practice, he also served as Medical Director of Health South in Pensacola, Florida and was the Chief of Surgery at Woodlawn Medical Center in Cullman, Alabama. Over the span of 4 years at Brooke Army Medical Center, Dr. St. Louis was appointed Director of Cardiac Rehabilitation and Research and Coordinator of the National Lopressor Intervention Trial.
Dr. St. Louis's military service solidified his core values and further propelled him in his pursuit of excellence. This unyielding pursuit is evident in his perpetual dedication to his field. Equipped with a wealth of experience, and committed to medical innovation, Dr. St. Louis directed his attention to further developing and enhancing the technique of minimally invasive spine surgery. Being a former athlete, Dr. St. Louis had a direct understanding of the challenges that back and neck pain and traditional corrective procedures posed to athletes, as well as individuals with active lifestyles. In light of the demand for an alternative to traditional invasive procedures, Dr. St. Louis founded the world renowned Laser Spine Institute in Tampa, Florida.
Dr. St. Louis's work ethic has been noted by his peers and his outstanding accomplishments are evidence of this recognition. Among his many professional accomplishments, is the publication of an article entitled 'Exercise Prescription for Cardiac Patients', as well as research and presentations on the diagnosis and treatment of spine disease. In more recent times, Dr. St. Louis has been the 2005 and 2008 recipient of the prestigious Physician of the Year Award from the American Association of Physician Specialists. In addition, he was appointed to the Board of Osteopathic Medicine by the Florida Governor. Dr. St. Louis will serve from November 1, 2008 to October 31, 2012.
Despite his commitment to his professional life, Dr. St. Louis aims at creating a balance. Whenever he is not performing surgeries, conducting research, or educating his peers, Dr. St. Louis fulfils his passion for sports and spends quality time with his wonderful family.

Dr. Craig Wolff joined LSI with over two decades of professional education and experience. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Princeton University and the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine, Dr. Wolff completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. He continued his professional education at L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital in Alabama and Tulsa Orthopedic associates in Oklahoma. Afterwards, he went on to complete a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery at Gulfcoast Orthopedics in Florida, where he also became the Assistant Chief of Spine Surgery.
Dr. Wolff chose to leave his title of Assistant Chief of Spine Surgery to join the renowned medical team at Laser Spine Institute. With the last seven years of practice dedicated specifically to endoscopic spinal procedures, Dr. Wolff is an outstanding asset to the already highly acclaimed team at the Laser Spine Institute.

Dr. Michael Weiss, a senior surgeon at LSI and Chief Spine Surgeon of Laser Spine Institute Arizona, is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery. After receiving his medical degree in 1986 from Nova Southeastern University, Dr. Weiss completed his rotating internship and orthopedic surgery residency at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital in Michigan, where he became Chief Resident in 1991.
His complimentary and additional education includes enhanced surgical training at Wayne State University, hand surgery at the Detroit Medical Center and total joint surgery at Port Huron Hospital. Dr. Weiss continued his training in pediatric orthopedics at Shriner's Hospital in Tampa, and endured extensive surgical training in adult reconstruction at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After 15 years of dedication to his previous practice in South Florida, Dr. Weiss chose to come to Laser Spine Institute and continue his love of surgery and patient care.

As a senior member of the LSI surgical team, Dr. Morris came to Laser Spine Institute with an impressive background. Born in suburban Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dr. Morris attended Pennsylvania State University for his pre-medical education, followed by Temple University School of Medicine where he received his Medical Degree in 1974. Dr. Morris completed his internship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania before dedicating 4 years of orthopedic residency to top rated hospitals such as Temple University Hospital, Abington Memorial Hospital and Shriner's Hospital in Philadelphia. In private practice in suburban Philadelphia until 2001, Dr. Morris was among the first spine surgeons in the late 1980's to perform minimally invasive spine surgery.
Licensed in five states, and Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery as well as Pain Management, Dr. Morris left his practice at Highlands Joint and Spine Orthopedics in Sebring, FL in July 2007 to join the highly acclaimed medical staff at Laser Spine Institute. With vast experience in orthopedic surgery, 14 hospital staff appointments, and an extensive record of post-graduate education, Dr. Morris adds his profound knowledge and expertise to the team. In addition, he holds a list of medical publications, honors and awards such as the AMA Award for Physician Recognition in 1984, 1987, 1990 and 1993. Dr. Morris is also involved in several community organizations and holds memberships in medical societies such as the Florida Medical Association.

Dr. Zoltan Bereczki joined the LSI team of surgeons with vast experience in Orthopedic Surgery. After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Union College in Schenectady, NY, Dr. Bereczki received a Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2000. He completed his fellowship in Orthopedic Trauma Surgery at the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. His extensive surgical training includes pediatric orthopedics at the Shriner's Hospital for Children in Erie, PA.
Dr. Bereczki's numerous accomplishments include memberships in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the American Osteopathic Association.

Dr. Stefan Prada came to the Laser Spine Institute after 9 years of dedication to orthopedic surgery at a previous practice and in the U.S. Navy. Graduating Magna Cum Laude from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with his Bachelor's Degree in Biology in 1987, Dr. Prada then went on to receive his Doctorate of Medicine from Albany Medical College in Albany, New York.
After completing his Surgical Internship at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, he began his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science in Little Rock, Arkansas. He then served in the U.S. Navy as a physician. His many achievements include numerous research publications, Decoration of the Joint Meritorious Unit Award from the United States Naval Forces, among many other Military Decorations, and First Prize for the Outstanding Research Project from the 14th Annual Arkansas Orthopedic Forum.
Dr. Prada relocated to Florida in 2007 with his wife Donia, who is a nurse, along with their 3 children; Angelina, Isabella and Nicholas. He enjoys boating, jet skiing, and other water sports with his family.

Dr. Timothy Luke comes to LSI with over a decade of extensive medical research and surgical experience. He attended Colorado State University, where he continued to indulge his passion for sports, receiving top honors two consecutive years with the Downhill ski team. He then focused on playing college football and his academic studies. He was the recipient of the Scholar Athlete of the Year Award for two consecutive years for Colorado State Football as well as Academic All Conference for three consecutive years. After receiving the National Collegiate Medical Professions Award and completing his B.S. in Microbiology before entering medical school in 1992, at the University of Colorado, where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1996. During his medical training, he received the Merck Award for Scholastic Achievement and then headed to the east coast to train at New York's Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he completed his internship, residency, and two fellowships in Orthopedic/General Surgery and Orthopedic Sports Medicine and Research respectively, and then secured the position of Attending Surgeon in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery.
Upon successful mastery of orthopedic surgical techniques, Dr. Luke entered into private practice. During this time, he focused on his areas of specialty, offering orthopedic and Sports Medicine diagnosis and treatment. While Dr. Luke has certainly made an indelible impact through his practice, his theoretical contributions have also won acclaim, both nationally and internationally. Dr. Luke has authored several journal publications and has given several research presentations. To name a few, Dr. Luke presented his research nationally at the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America and the Western Orthopedic Association. Internationally, Dr. Luke has presented at the European Society Sports/Trauma Surgery & Arthroscopy in London. Additionally, Dr. Kevin Plancher, Dr. Luke's fellowship director, presented these papers with the International Society of Arthroscopy in New Zealand and Switzerland and the World Congress Orthopedic Sports Trauma Convention in Australia.
Dr. Luke's remarkable work has been acknowledged by several professional entities. In 2003, the paper that he co-authored was the recipient of the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopedic Sports Medicine Award for best paper. More recently, in 2008, Dr. Luke was honored as one of "America's Top Orthopedists" by the guide to America's Top Orthopedists Consumer Research Council of America. Despite his outstanding achievements, Dr. Luke maintains admirable humility. This firm sense of humility emerges from Dr. Luke's conviction of providing the highest quality patient care. Having suffered from a broken neck, as a result of a sports injury, and having faced the prospect of not being able to pursue his passion for sports, Dr. Luke has a thorough understanding of the pain and suffering, experienced by his patients. The tenacity and dedication of the medical staff played a vital role in Dr. Luke's recovery and enabled him to continue playing sports, along with indulging in life's other simple pleasures. This first-hand understanding is what has, and continues to fuel Dr. Luke's dedication to his profession.
In addition to being a dedicated professional, Dr. Luke is also a devoted husband and father. He currently resides in Tampa with his wife Sonya, daughter Devon, and son Brendon.

Glenn Hamburg M.D.

Dr. Hamburg was born and raised in rural western Michigan. After graduation from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he joined the U.S. Navy. Following active naval service in South Asia, Dr. Hamburg obtained his M.D. degree from Michigan State University under a Navy scholarship. He completed Anesthesiology residence training at Naval Regional Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia.
After service in the U.S. Navy in foreign, domestic and shipboard positions, Dr. Hamburg completed his active Naval service in 1997. He has subsequently held several anesthesia department head positions in civilian communities.
Dr. Hamburg is now an anesthesiologist for the Laser Spine Institute and is married with 2 children.

Dr. Dunganh Ung comes to LSI with an impressive work history in Anesthesiology. After graduating for the University of Pittsburgh in 1981 with a degree in chemistry, Dr. Ung continued at the University's School of Medicine. His residency in Anesthesiology was also completed at the University Medical Center of Pittsburgh. He then began his professional experience as an anesthesiologist at St. Vincent Health center in Erie, PA.
Dr. Ung accepted a position at Richmond Community Hospital in Richmond, VA where he served for 7 years. He then moved south to Tampa, Florida in 1998 and has worked in Tampa Bay hospitals as an anesthesiologist. He has served as Medical Director of Anesthesiology at Town & Country Hospital in Tampa for 6 years and has also worked at Tampa General Hospital.

Internationally educated anesthesiologist, Dr. Adriana Caldeira joined LSI in 2008. Born in Brazil, she completed her undergraduate studies and medical degree at the Federal University of Minas Gerais in her native country.After graduating medical school in 1992, Dr. Caldeira began an extensive residency program.During the span of the program, she spent a total of four years in General Surgery at Alberto Cavalcanti Hospital in Brazil and the University of Hawaii, completing two years at each institution.At the end of her second year at the University of Hawaii, Dr. Caldeira's passion for critical care medicine precipitated a change to Anesthesiology.To become proficient in her new area of specialty, she completed a residency program at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, OH, with a concentration in cardiothoracic anesthesia and critical care.
With perfection as her guiding standard, Dr. Caldeira dedicated an additional year to fellowship training. During that time, she became involved in extremely challenging cases, such as, heart and lung transplant surgery and VADs /mechanical hearts. Subsequent to her extensive residency training and fellowship, Dr. Caldeira secured a position as a faculty member in the Anesthesiology department at Case Western Reserve Medical School, while sharpening her skills in cardiothoracic and general anesthesia at the Louis Stoke Cleveland VA Medical Center.After spending six years in Cleveland, Dr. Caldeira traveled south to the James A. Haley VA Hospital in Tampa, FL, where she primarily focused on cardiothoracic anesthesia, with general anesthesia administration as a secondary duty.In 2006, Dr. Caldeira accepted a position in the transplant program at Tampa General Hospital, focusing exclusively on cardiothoracic anesthesia.
In addition to her practical experience, Dr. Caldeira has been active in medical research and has authored several medical publications. During her tenure at the Cardiovascular Research Laboratory in Hawaii, Dr. Caldeira conducted research on topics ranging from Internal Mammary Artery Hypoperfusion Syndrome- Diagnosis and treatment to High Volume vs. Standard Therapy in a Septic Pig Model- Impact on Pulmonary Function. Dr. Caldeira's research projects were later published in the Japanese Circulation Journal and Archives of Surgery, respectively.After years of hard work, dedication, and successful completion of the United States Medical Examination process, Dr. Caldeira became board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in 2007.
Equipped with exhaustive training and experience with critical care patients, Dr. Caldeira's addition will complement the current team of experts. In addition to being a dedicated professional, Dr. Caldeira enjoys cooking, interior designing and artistic projects with her family.

Dr. Anand Gandhi brings an impressive education and background in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation to Laser Spine Institute. He attended Creighton University, and after receiving his B.S in Environmental Science, continued on to Creighton University School of Medicine, where he received his Doctorate of Medicine in 2004. In the years to follow, he completed his residency at the University of North Carolina Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Chapel Hill, NC, where he served as Education Chief Resident in 2008. During his four years at UNC, Dr. Gandhi held many supervisory roles, including overseeing 3rd and 4th year UNC and visiting medical students, and Junior Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residents. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Gandhi fulfilled Interventional Spine Fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center-Institute for Spinal Disorders in 2009, as well as, Pain Management Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, 2010 before joining Laser Spine Institute in Arizona.

Dr. David K. Van Dam came to Laser Spine Institute after valuable service as an anesthesiologist in Florida, Arizona, Alaska and New York. Graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from Michigan State University, he went on to receive his Doctorate of Medicine from Ross University of Medicine in Portsmouth, Dominica.
After completing his internal medicine internship at Atlantic City Medical Center, Dr. Van Dam participated in anesthesia residency programs at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, and SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn.
Dr. Van Dam brings considerable experience from service at Alaska Regional Hospital and Providence Medical Center in Anchorage, AK; Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ; Tucson Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona; Flagstaff Medical Center in Flagstaff, AZ; Citrus Medical Hospital in Inverness, FL; Morton Plant Mease Hospitals in Clearwater, FL; and Flushing Medical Center in Queens, NY. In his spare time, he enjoys travelling with his wife, Irma, as well as photography and rollerblading.

Dr. Paul Gaitan comes to Laser Spine Institute’s Scottsdale Surgical Center after service in the United States Air Force and in medical facilities throughout the greater Phoenix metropolitan area. Practice experience includes: Del E. Webb Memorial Hospital, Sun City, AZ; Boswell Memorial Hospital, Sun City, AZ; Arizona Medical Clinic, Peoria, AZ; Thunderbird Medical Center, Sun City, AZ; and John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital, Phoenix, AZ.
Graduating magna cum laude from Grand Canyon University, Dr. Gaitan then earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. He completed his anesthesia residency and internship at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York.
Dr. Gaitan has been married to his wife, Lisa, for nearly 20 years, and the couple has three children. When not practicing medicine, he enjoys golfing, fishing, and participating in the various sporting interests of his children.

Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Dr. Michael Perry received his B.A. degree in 1981 from the University of South Florida receiving honors such as "Who's Who Among American Universities and Colleges." He earned his medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine in 1985, where he was the top graduate in his class. Dr. Perry completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut.
As the Medical Director of the Laser Spine Institute, Dr. Michael Perry is responsible for overseeing the medical operations of Laser Spine Institute and ensures compliance with regulatory and certification standards. Dr. Perry monitors quality assurance and provides education to patients and staff. He provides expertise as a member of the executive management team and the Laser Spine Board of Directors.
Dr. Perry is also actively involved with organizing and presenting academic and informational seminars on behalf of the Laser Spine Institute. He has traveled extensively throughout the United States and other countries providing patient education. Dr. Perry has also presented research at many international surgical conferences and his abstracts have appeared in leading publications.
Dr. Perry is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the American College of Sports Medicine, the Society for Laproendoscopic Surgeons, and a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons.
Dr. Perry and his wife, Michele, have three sons; Matthew and twins Sean and Joshua. He enjoys traveling, playing golf and spending time with his family.

As the Interventional Pain Management Director at Laser Spine Institute, Dr. Robert Gruber is responsible for spinal diagnostic testing and post-operative pain management for all surgical patients at LSI.
Dr. Gruber graduated from Nova Southeastern University in North Miami, FL with a degree as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. Upon graduation from Nova Southeastern, he completed his Residency Program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Little Rock, AR. He was honored with appointment to the position of chief resident of his residency program during his training. Licensed and practicing in Florida since 1990 and Board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, American Osteopathic Board of Physical medicine and Rehabilitation, and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
In addition to his board certifications, he brings the team over 22 years of experience in the clinical evaluation and management of spinal conditions. His past experience includes 18 years as the medical director of a large multidisciplinary spine care practice in the Tampa Bay area. He has additionally served as a fellowship director for interventional pain management techniques. He continues his academic affiliation as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine, West Coast campus. His many achievements in medicine go beyond helping patients; Dr. Gruber has numerous research publications, educational presentations, and textbook publications.
Dr. Gruber came to LSI to apply his unique blend of experience and skills using the newest approach to treating spinal conditions. Having worked in the conventional arena of spine care for many years, he is experienced in the diagnosis and management of many different conditions and is able to communicate the benefits and drawbacks of most treatment options, Dr. Gruber is another valuable addition to the LSI team.
Dr. Gruber and his wife, Liesa, have two children, Calvin and Victoria, and have lived in Pinellas County since 1990. Dr. Gruber is a recreational tennis player and enjoys physical fitness and other activities to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

After completing his service in the United States Army Security Agency, Military Intelligence, Dr. Richley began college at The Ohio State University, playing football four years. He went on to medical school at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, followed by six years of orthopedic residency training at the University of California, San Diego.
During his 32 years of practice Dr. Richley has served as team physician for the San Diego Chargers, San Diego Padres, Board of Directors of the San Diego Arthritis Foundation and physician for the United States Olympics in 1984 and 1988.
Since 1991, Dr. Richley has developed and pioneered the new advances and technology in minimally invasive spine surgery. He has provided presentations at the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons meetings, and has been an international instructor and surgeon in such countries including Australia, South America, Belgium, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Mexico.
His passion is football at The Ohio State University but, more importantly, is extremely proud of his two daughters. The oldest, an internal medicine physician and the youngest a registered nurse.
His favorite salutation is "GO BUCS" and his lesson for life is "Press On".

Native Floridian, Dr. Craig Burns joined the LSI team in 2008, bringing his extensive knowledge and years of experience in Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Burns was awarded a B.A. degree in Biology from Rollins College in 1993. In recognition of his superior academic performance and intellect, he was awarded the Southern Medical Association Scholarship. Dr. Burns then attend Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 1998. Subsequently, he fulfilled his internship and family medicine residency requirements in St. Petersburg, FL at Northside Hospital.
Equipped to apply the knowledge that he had acquired in school and eager to fulfill his dream of helping others, in 2001, Dr. Burns launched his career as a staff physician at Helen Ellis Walk-In Clinic in Holiday, Florida, where he remained until 2003. In this capacity, he provided acute care for walk-in and occupational health patients. During his time at Helen Ellis, Dr. Burns formed strong relationships and earned the respect of his peers, which he has successfully maintained. To date, he serves as Treasurer for Helen Ellis Medical staff. In 2003, Dr. Burns became an Associate at the Carson Family Care Center in Tarpon Springs, Florida, where he was responsible for treating hospital, nursing home, and office- based patients.
With nearly 7 years of experience in treating a variety of patients, ranging from infants to geriatrics, and a continued dedication to patient satisfaction, Dr. Burns has earned the reputation as one of the most competent family practice physicians. In addition to his outstanding professionalism, Dr. Burns is also distinguished by his exceptional bedside manner and his ability to incorporate strong interpersonal and relationship building skills during his interaction with patients.
Dr. Burns is instrumental in facilitating patient education by conducting nationwide LSI informational seminars, and also plays an important role in the interpretation and analysis of radiographic imaging. He has been licensed to practice medicine in the state of Florida since 2001 and is also certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians. Dr. John Spallino is a recent addition to the LSI group of endoscopic spine surgery experts, bringing over 15 years of experience to the team. Dr. Spallino's wide array of experience, ranging from primary to emergency physician care makes him a unique addition to the team. After receiving his BA in Biology from D'youville College in Buffalo, New York, Dr. Spallino attended medical school at Universidad Autonoma De Guadalajara-Jalisco, Mexico, after which, he completed the New York-Fifth Pathway Program from 1988-1989 at the New York Medical College-Valhalla. Subsequent to successful completion of his medical degree, Dr. Spallino fulfilled his internal medical residency requirement at the Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, New York from 1989-1992.
In 1992, Dr. Spallino embarked upon his career as a successful physician in the emergency room of St. Mary Hospital in Rochester, New York, after which, he became a primary care physician at Westside Cardiology and Pulmonary Group, also in Rochester, New York. After three years of being a practicing physician, Dr. Spallino transitioned from the big apple to the sunshine state, where he continued to provide primary care service at Town & Country Internal Medicine and also expanded his emergency care experience at the Town & Country Hospital. In 1998, he was appointed Medical Director at the St. Joseph's Community Care Center, a role in which he served for three years. Dr. Spallino then opened and operated a successful private practice for four years, while continuing his relationship with Town & Country Hospital, serving as the Physician Advisor and Associate Chief of Medicine.
Unfortunately, in 2005, Dr. Spallino sustained debilitating injuries in an accident, which prevented him from working for approximately one year, during which he completed physical rehabilitation. Due to his tenacity and resilience, Dr. Spallino recovered by 2006 and promptly secured the position as Vice President of Surgical Services at United Surgical Assistants, where he remained for two years. In addition to maintaining his successful physician practice, throughout his career, Dr. Spallino has maintained a presence among academic institutions and professional organizations. Dr. Spallino has served as the LCD mentor for medical students at the University of South Florida and the Physician Clinical Supervisor at the University of Tampa. Currently, he serves as the Physician Advisor for Southwest Florida College. Dr. Spallino is certified by the American Board of Disability Analysts, American Academy of Medical Review Officers and the American Board of Internal Medicine, and is a member of the American College of Physician Executives and the American Board of Urgent Care Medicine.
Dr. Spallino is instrumental in facilitating patient education by conducting nationwide LSI informational seminars, and also plays an important role in interpretation and analysis of radiographic imaging. Dr. Spallino will undoubtedly make a significant contribution to the team of physicians at LSI. The breadth and depth of his knowledge and experience, his outstanding ability to transmit such knowledge, and devotion to patient service will be an essential component in the continuing growth and development of our innovative surgical facility.
Dr. Spallino attributes his success to the love and support of his family and feels that two of the greatest blessings in his life are being married to his childhood sweetheart, Yvonne, and being the father of two wonderful children, Corrine and Jonathan.

Monica Vargas M.D.

Dr. Monica Vargas joined Laser Spine Institute in February 2009. In her role as Physiatrist, Dr. Vargas plays an active role in improving treatment efficacy and maximizing surgical outcome. Her specific functions include: administering intra-operative spinal injections, performing diagnostic tests to identify and isolate the specific source of pain, and conducting MRI discussions. Her intensive and comprehensive medical training, coupled with her outstanding compassion will facilitate the continued development of LSI's new Diagnostic and Pain Management Center and further enhance overall patient experience.
Dr. Vargas earned her medical degree from Universidad Libre de Colombia in 1998, after completing a rotating internship at the Social Security Institute. During this time, her areas of focus included: general medicine, surgery, pediatrics, ER and Ob/Gyn. Subsequent to the completion of her rotating internship, Dr. Vargas pursued a medical internship at the Metropolitan Hospital Center's Internal Medicine department in New York, after which, she fulfilled a medical residency at the University of Rochester-Strong Memorial Hospital Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation in Rochester, New York.
Further demonstrating her relentless pursuit of professional development, Dr. Vargas completed an Interventional Spine Care and Pain Management medical fellowship at the Florida Spine Institute. Upon successful completion, she secured the position of Medical Director at the National Pain Institute in Holiday, Florida. In addition to exhaustive medical training, Dr. Vargas is committed to academic contribution, primarily through publications.
