If you live with chronic neck or back pain, Laser Spine Institute is here to help by introducing you to more effective minimally invasive procedures that are performed at our conveniently located surgery centers in Tampa, Scottsdale, Oklahoma City, Houston and Philadelphia.

Whether you live in Orlando, The Villages, Ocala, Altamonte Springs, Lady Lake, and throughout Florida, spine surgery is a serious decision that you might consider when neck and back pain threatens to decrease your daily quality of life, though it is always best to consider surgical procedures only after a course of non-invasive, conservative treatment—such as physical therapy, medication, and steroid injections—has not had the desired effect.

The spine is such an integral part of the body that we sometimes forget how much we depend on its health. It is comprised of vertebrae, protective intervertebral discs, facet joints, ligaments, and tendons—at the center which is the spinal cord. As we age, our intervertebral discs and the surrounding joints begin to deteriorate. Spine surgery is often aimed at correcting this deterioration and may involve cleaning and removing degenerating areas in order to decompress the surrounding nerves. There are a variety of degenerative conditions that may be treated with spine surgery, including:

  • Herniated disc- a disc that has torn open and extruded its inner fluid into the spinal canal
  • Bulging disc- a disc that has not torn open, but has weakened and pushed beyond its normal perimeters into the spinal canal
  • Spinal stenosis- a narrowing of the spinal canal, often as a result of herniated disc or bulging disc
  • Bone spurs- smooth growths of bone that occur as a result of a weakened spine
  • Osteoarthritis – degeneration of the facet joints

These conditions can cause symptoms such as weakness, loss of feeling, a “pins-and-needles” sensation, radiating pain, and reduced mobility. If you decide that spine surgery is the right choice for you, Laser Spine Institute can give you more information on our state-of-the-art minimally invasive procedures. These procedures are done on an outpatient basis and many patients walk out of the facility hours after surgery.

Contact us today for a consultation and a complimentary review of your MRI or CT scan. Remember, whether you live in Orlando, The Villages, Ocala, Altamonte Springs, Lady Lake, or anywhere throughout Florida, spine pain should not have to be a way of life. An orthopedic surgeon from Laser Spine Institute’‘s talented team of experts is waiting to talk to you about minimally invasive spine surgery.
